those annoying pop up boxes
those annoying pop up boxes
anyone know a firefox addon to get rid of them? i use a separate one for banner ads etc, so maybe there is one just for these too?
i dont even know what they are called but the ones i am talking about are the ones with specific words underlined or highlighted and if you accidentally mouse over them then you get a huge, annoying pop up box.

Those kind of pop ups are most often cause by some javascript code. Your best bet would be to run an extension such as "NoScript" to turn off scripting by default for all sites. When you find a site/forum that you need javascript on, you can have the extension selectively enable that site/page to let it work again.ccl0 wrote:i dont even know what they are called but the ones i am talking about are the ones with specific words underlined or highlighted and if you accidentally mouse over them then you get a huge, annoying pop up box.
Do realize though, that kind of advertising can also be implemented in ad-ware/mal-ware addons. You might also need to check any and all addons you have installed to make sure you do not have one secretly causing trouble for you.
