I'll rather preffer to use RicaNeaga tweak.
Internet explorer should be in an " yet ready to explore state" right after installing it
Microsfot forces that configuration screens before the first use of IE 8...
Microsoft does many things as for people that never saw a PC...
and because the steps are so many it may become annoying and therefore frustrating
and after win setup, if for example you need a quick jump on the internet...it interferes too much with the user's will.
By the way, we could ALWAYS bring back on screen the configuration steps...by entering the menu bar (press F10 if not visible):

Tools-->Internet Options-->Advanced-->Reset

and the next IE session opens with those mambo jumbo screens
I preffer to hide it because I already submit to the registry those options (after my prefferences) through a third party "tweak addon" during xp setup...

However revoking or keeping that setting inside the official IE addon depends upon it's author free choice.

I am glad somebody keeps Yume's projects alive...

Looks like you're missing the CAT file for KB2846071-IE8. That should fix all problems.

I just tried to reproduce your errors and could not.

XP SP3 + u_h update pack 20130709 + Ricks-YumeYao_IE8_Addon_Nosetuperr_ENU_1_4_24.7z

Integrated with RVMi, followed by my standard nLite run, iso by RVMi and run in VirtualBox.

System File Protection is enabled.

setuperr.log = clean
qfecheck = clean

CAT file for KB2846071-IE8 is in the svcpack folder (named k2846071.cat) in the addon archive.

EDIT:
I downloaded the addon a little over an hour ago, so I must have gotten the new version, md5:

I tried repacking the addon removing the old cat with the new, but I still get 2 errors in setuperr.log even though
most of the errors from the previous log were gone.

You also need the cat file from the IE6 version of the hotfix, where those file come from

Not sure I understand. I integrated this addon with latest u_h updatepack which should have the ie6 version of the cat.

Does it matter what name I used for the cat?
I swapped k2846071.cat with KB2862772.CAT in the ie8 addon.

I noticed that the IEXPLORE.EXE file is in uppercase and if i remember right than the original iexplore.exe file is in lowercase.

This IE8 addon is the only addon that fixes the Microsoft IE8 bug. :(

To reproduce this Microsoft IE8 bug do this:
1. Using another IE8 addon or install IE8 over the Windows Update Center.
2. Create a new User Account.
3. Uninstall IE8 over the "Add or Remove Programs" menu.
4. Login with the new User Account.
5. Say by by to the Quick Launch (Broken Quick Launch). :)
That's way i prefer this add on over the other once. ;)

I see, that's a strange Microsoft IE8 bug funny that they didn't fixed this, i never expected this from Microsoft. :)

What's the status of your PC? Still brewing? :)

Extract addon+ie8 update, rename msfeedsbs.dll to (8.3 filename compliant) msfeedbs.dll in extracted update, copy/replace all files from the extracted update to the extracted addon, copy new KB*.CAT file from the \UPDATE sub-folder to the SVCPACK folder (delete old cumulative update K*.CAT, yumeyao likes to rename these to be 8.3 compliant so I do the same and remove "B" and "-IE8")

Now you have to edit ie.inf to add the new cumulative update reg entries...after that is done you recompress

BTW still waiting on the (OEM CPU fan) part to arrive from China (Android will have to do for the time being)

EDIT by 5eraph, 2015/06/11: Cumulative updates now include jsprofilerui.dll which must be renamed jsprflui.dll for the addons. Microsoft has also previously sneaked an additional registry entry into the [Product.AddReg] section of the updates that needed to be included. A file compare of update_SP3QFE.inf between old and new updates should be performed when updating to ensure nothing is missed.

If that's all that needs to be done then i can post an updated addon of this.
But i have a little question the "ie.inf" file includes two registry entrys that the Cumulative Update (KB2898785-IE8) dose not add in the Windwos XP Registry, should i remove them from the "ie.inf" file?

The files are present in the update but they are not copied because they are the same as was in the previous update, you can leave them out or take them from the previous inf entries (you will need to fix the "KB#######-IE8\Filelist\##" entries to be compatible/match the new entries)
