Well done, 5eraph :) It would be great if you added IE8 updates in a seperate addon as well.

Thanks, everyone. :)

I was going to wait and see if adric will update YumeYao's IE8 addon, harkaz. The past few months he's made an updated addon available within 27 hours of Patch Tuesday's release. He's running late. I'm looking into updating it myself. If I can finish before he releases then I'll consider posting it.

if there was an "easier" to read thread on how to "port" the POS updates to XP, then we all could use the Onepiece's DX Universal UpdatePack/Addon Creator to create our IE AddOn without the need to wait for one :(

This is probably a stupid question, but what does POSReady 2009 mean??

5eraph, yes I'm running late  If you want please update. I've been helping a friend migrate his XP to a new Win7 PC that he bought. Of course he want's everything the same on the new PC. After that, I need to do my taxes so I'm a bit pressed for time.

Will you be keeping this seperate or will it be in your addon?

Correct in that XP Home and Pro are at EoL, skrell. But POSReady is not EoL yet. And this addon does not include the registry tweaks to fool the Microsoft Update website and update package installers into believing Home/Pro is POSReady. user_hidden has posted directions for doing that with his update pack if you're interested.

And why not IE6? The XPSP3_QFE_UpdatePack includes IE6 updates (KB2936068 and KB2964358). The POSReady Addon updates the XPSP3_QFE_UpdatePack. Therefore, the POSReady Addon updates IE6 (with KB2977629). If you want IE8 then there's an addon for that. ;)

So this means i can't simply include this addon pack and have it install the addons...first i must install the QFE_Updatepack for SP3 WITH the hack that you linked to and THEN install this addon ? Am i correct?

Don't know, user_hidden, but it would be nice. :)

Yes, skrell, this addon is intended to be used with user_hidden's XPSP3_QFE_UpdatePack, as is stated in the first post of this thread.

The hack is not necessary to use this addon. The included POSReady updates will slipstream without it. The hack is only needed when you want to install future POSReady updates on Windows XP Home or Pro unless you use harkaz's modified update installers or another method of running the POSReady update packages. If you'd rather not make the hack edit yourself, I've made an addon I use to test the POSReady addon that does the editing for me:

Download:So, if you want to use the POSReady addon on a 32-bit Windows XP Home or Pro source then you need at least these two files:
  • XPSP3_QFE_UpdatePack_20140909.7z
    XPSP3_QFE_POSReady_Addon_20140909_5er.7z
If you want the hack then you can use the "Enable" addon linked above. If you want IE8 then you can use YumeYao's IE8 addon, or use OnePiece's Addon creator to make your own IE8 addon.

Changelog: EnablePOSReadyMU
  • [2016/03/11 18:15 UTC] - 20160311 - Removes a registry entry that MU now detects as invalid.

    [2014/11/12 20:40 UTC] - 20141111 - user_hidden's release. Uses an alternate AddReg directive.

    [2014/09/15 01:35 UTC] - Initial release.

A bit off topic but related to the TZ update... I dont know if you guys know this, but I prefer to use tzchange.exe to add my new timezones in my spanish updatepack. Well ran into a problem trying to add +14:00 offset (14X60=840,) this command would be tzchange.exe /B -840

Problem is tzchange /B command can only go as high as +13 (-780) so I am stuck with using AddReg for this timezone

I beat you to it by two hours but I'll remove it from the addon anyway. I missed the Flash update so I guess we're even. ;)

@ 5eraph

ya I didn't notice you updated the POS addon until afterwards.
I didn't look at the addon and did not want any conflict for both having the new TZ update.

always thanks for your work and help to the community

Does this have to be slipstreamed precisely first thing after u_h pack or the order is not important ?
It depends upon another addon away from u_h update pack ?
May any other addon interferes with it ?
Can I use it at the very end of the integration process...after IE8 addon and such..?

This addon should be used after user_hidden's update pack and before slipstreaming IE7 or IE8, as it will overwrite existing IE files with IE6 versions. Additionally, the KB967756 Rollback addon and installer are no longer updated and should not be used.

MUWeb.dll v7.6.7600.257 is working again with the Microsoft Update website. r256 will be removed from the next POSReady addon, provided the problem doesn't recur.

If you're impatient, you may use the previous version of the POSReady addon:

  • Corrected typos in entries_POSUpdates.ini preventing Flash from installing correctly.
Sorry.

My x86 Flash Player script is a slightly modified copy of my x64 script. Obviously, some necessary edits were not made to account for file name changes between update packs. Those edits have been committed. This won't happen again. ;)
