RVM Lite?? up for liberty

Post by thuun » Fri Jan 20, 2006 11:27 pm

What ever happened to the reduced 'lite' version of RVM pack?

I would consider integration of your pack again if you would perhaps pull some fixes that are of little use to most users. The pack seems to have every hotfix just for the sake of having it, some of which are not designed for wide spread distribution. I know you've don't some research, so done take this the wrong way. I'm pretty sure alot of your forum members and users could do without say...
PAL format video fixes,
Rollup 1 for eHome Infrared Receiver,
XP TV tuner update,
New language locales,
KB899418 deals with telephone connection issue,
and I recall one for Adobe Premier.
I could continue, but you get the point.
Just a thought as I'm sure others would be happy to see a revision that discarded updates for less common issues.

the thing you need to realize is that most users here build systems not for themselves but for customers and have not every customer has broadband but instead uses phone line, or some watch pal formated video, not to mention the couple that have there computer as an entertainment system with a tv tuner, so since the end user is unpredectable, it makes sense to cover everything.

of course,
as do I.
but that's beside the point

I also have my box at home, getting back to the question.
I'm not saying a lite version should REPLACE the full, no.

Ryan has had a lot of issues lately so he might do it again but don't hold your breath.
