If there will be no bugs to fix or important news, I hope this version will last at least for this month...

I guess its related to the media player fix/problems

I'll ask Onepiece to provide newer one.
Now WGAN is mandatory for WU/MU but as many people whined when they have found it in the pack, it was removed.

Hmmmm I just tried this pack and I encountered the same problem I had before when I was testing a much earlier pack. When I open IE7 for the 1st time it never finishes selecting the search provider and just sits their until I close it... then when I re-open IE7 it asks for the search provider selection again... the new tab notice never takes either. Everything else seems fine.
Here is what I did: - EDIT: NO .NET 1 addons only 3.5 and NO IE7/WMP tweaks

Is it really mandatory if WGAV is already installed?nonno fabio wrote:Now WGAN is mandatory for WU/MU but as many people whined when they have found it in the pack, it was removed.
I thought it was removed because it was not mandatory...
(I got updates listed in MU after a fresh install of 1.7.0 without WGAN installed; like Windows Search, .NET packages, and WGAN...)

I get this pause now too with AIO 1.70 updatepack. I believe it's because IE is querying a non-existent proxy server for settings. If you leave it alone, it times out and goes direct-connect (takes about 60 seconds on my PC). Everything works fine after that. Annoying, but not show-stopping.compstuff wrote:When I open IE7 for the 1st time it never finishes selecting the search provider and just sits their until I close it...

@nonno fabio can you post modified Onepiece WGAN addon because MU shows on update?

I let this sit for at least 5 minutes and tried it numerous times but it never connected but now I'm wondering if I let it sit even longer if it would have ever connected.... I'm already trying a new burn so I probably won't get back to this but in my case this LONG delay would cause problems with too many end users...mr_smartepants wrote:I get this pause now too with AIO 1.70 updatepack. I confirm this behavior as well. However, the Proxy server search does complete without finding any server and then proceeds to a direct connection and functions normally thereafter. I believe this is the intended behavior of IE7 and is correct - albeit, generally, undesirable when outside of an enterprise environment.compstuff wrote:I let this sit for at least 5 minutes and tried it numerous times but it never connected but now I'm wondering if I let it sit even longer if it would have ever connected.... If the registry setting for the first run Proxy server search of IE7 can be set to skip the search (or set as "completed") then perhaps this "annoying" behavior can be avoided. Although, this would then not be the standard M$ intended first run behavior of a new IE7 install...not that changing this intent is a bad thing though...

Ah, yes @ Nonno & OnePiece: THANK YOU for your incredible effort and generosity in developing and maintaining this wonderful tool...

I still have the CD so I will try this another time and do some experimenting but I am away for two days now...
A few notes: I usually run reg settings that eliminate this but I intentionally did not include them since I am also checking into another minor annoyance with IE7.
I did a seperate test with the MrDMX IE7 adddon and that seemed to work as intended. I fired up IE7 said save my current settings and in 1 second the setting took and all worked fine.
I used the same additional addons for both tests (listed above) so IMHO their seems to be a reason for the difference but it is beyond my abilty to figure out.
And YES YES YES this is AWESOME work and for me at least, close to a PERFECT solution so thanks VERY MUCH!!!

I integrated the updatepack with ryanvm integrator and there was no IE7/WMP11, tested on real machine and also on virtual machine (with new image), though its working fine with nlite.
silverlight is there, but web sites asking to install silverlight, i think there is some problem.
Thanks....

It seems there is a problem with the latest version of the update pack.
I integrated the update pack and the IE cosmetic fix using nLite (all latest versions). I tested the created image with VirtualBox.
Here is the problem: MSI based installers "lock" at the copying files stage. The loading bar just stays at 0% and there is no disk or processor activity. Canceling doesn't do a thing and the only way to close the installation is to kill all "msiexec.exe" processes.

ok, retested IE7 search, Silverlight and .msi setup, but no errors at all.
A pure RVMi 1.5.4 integration with updatepack only give you all same issues?

Microsoft does think differently; they are going to release a patch today(!):nonno fabio wrote:If there will be no bugs to fix or important news, I hope this version will last at least for this month...

So perhaps we will get a 1.7.1? (if Microsoft releases it on another day than patch-Tuesday it's probably rather important, but then again we could install that single patch until 1.8.0 gets out)

if someone wants to upload the updatepack somewhere else, as is and/or splitted and will provide the link, I'll be happy to post it in first topic.

I was not referring to that, but to nonno's hope that 1 version of the pack would be enough for this month.Outbreaker wrote:This patch that comes out today has nothing to do with the MSI files.
BTW: the patch (958644) is already available on MU.

I found another problem, this time when installing XP SP3 with Update Pack 1.7.0 on my home computer.
After a fresh install, I introduced my A-data MyFlash PD7 8GB USB drive and the driver installation began. After that, some message boxes appeared. They can be seen in the following image:

WinXP SP3 VLK (from MSDN) source
Onepiece's AIO Update Pack 1.7.0
Onepiece's IE7 Cosmetic Fix
- integrated with nLite 1.4.9.1
- unattended installation (Winnt.sif)

Running with unattended switches (for example "/qb-") works too.
However, the problem doesn't apear on a SP3 RTM install.
