Ryan any update on the new pack?

YA YA Guys I understand it is not polite to ask but I would just like to know if there is a problem or if he is just to busy to release it right now.

Thanks Ryan for any news.......

I understand the situation and appreciate the effort that you do Ryan.
I think the problem arises is when Ryan sets expectations that the pack will be released "around the 11 or 12" or even over the weekend then doesn't mention anything for days on time afterwords.

Please keep up the efforts. It looks like Signet is getting the lead :D

I know that for myself I try to never give dates, whether exact or estimated, for anything I do online. You just never know when things with work or your personal life will prevent you from making that time frame. And when you put a date on something it really adds a degree of pressure that is otherwise unnecessary.

From Ryan's previous posts it appears obvious that he is indeed planning on releasing something in the not too distant future. That should be comfort enough - to know that something is in the pipeline.

I think most of us would agree with this if we are being honest.

I hope Ryan isnt losing interest, it would be such a shame to lose this excellent software. :(

i guess some of you dont recall when there was about a 6-8 month span where he didnt make ANY updates.
that makes waiting a week or two or three pale in comparison to that.
also he has a full time job etc etc, so this isnt his #1 focus

ccl0 - when there wasn't any updates for awhile, we knew that since Ryan was dealing with his full time job and he said such.

FFS, just make your own pack if you cannot wait.

Alternately, use the currently-released pack and then integrate the updates released after it using nLite or some such. It usually works just fine.

In any case, just deal with it and move on. Do you think Ryan has the new update pack ready and is hording it for some reason? That your complaining will make him release it sooner? I just cannot understand the reasoning behind all this... whining, I guess, is the word I'm looking for.

Oh here we go again. You do realize that Ryan does not give a crap about this place, and the likes of us?

He will release his update pack when he has time, I think most of us have figured that part out, so no need for you (Mavericks Choice) to try and start some kind of a war "on behalf" of Ryan, and jump to his defense, with so much hate and self authority, as I'm sure he will handle all this quite easily on his own.

Plus what's all this "do it yourself crap"?

So now your saying that you want this place shut down, because you can do what Ryan does, and assume that everybody here knows how to do it to? Well put your money where your mouth is, and release an update pack of your own, just like Ryan's. I'm sure he would love some help, and would love to not have to try and make these packs every month.

No doubt Ryan's Update Pack is a great service. What would really be nice is to have a sticky thread to recommend specific update steps for updating in-between Ryan's main releases.

IOW, if there is someone who lists all the critical updates and offers direct links. Or even someone who offers in-between minor update packs.

I feel filthy enough just thinking about going to the M$ site, let alone the long hot showers afterwards.

Just having a list of critical links would be nice – a sticky thread for linking to this info really would be nice and would help stop all this in-between fuss.

Thanks Ryan...

@Stimpy

You are off course have a right to your own opinion. It was by no way a personal attack I direct it to everybody. Your right VM can handle himself & I in no way are looking to do so.

Huh I don't even use this pack...I use the SP2 one.
I'm spending much time now on Vista Ua & only update the XP machines on a need basis.

Please guys use these packs as they are & just integrated the additional fortnightly fixes as you see fit. VM or anyone here does not need to be producing a pack on a fortnightly or Monthly basis...surely.
I'm done.

Cheers

Someone mentioned needing to make add-ons.
FWIW -- and please correct me if I'm wrong -- can't we just add these exe update files from M$ as add-ons as is?
CORRECTION:
RVMi will add them, but they will not work in a UA install.
So does anyone have a simple method for taking the latest M$ update exe files and turning them into a single add-on??

Rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated . Sorry everyone, real life's been crazy lately. Work's been keeping me busy during the week, every weekend has seemingly had something come up which has kept me busy, and then I got sick over Thanksgiving weekend to make things even more fun. Sorry for the lack of updates, I'm still here. I'll try to get something out as soon as possible.

Welcome back Ryan, its good to know things are ok.

I know what you mean about things going slow, things are not too great here in Denmark, my company has been laying people off to. Makes the rest of us nervous, but maybe they need IT supporters for a while longer! lol

What dolivas said. It's a jungle out there right now in tech too. Whenever you do make the next release, rest assured that it will be appreciated by many like myself who have come to rely on your pack to keep M$'s shit straight. :D

Yeah, scrap prices have been particularly interesting to watch (our mill melts 100% scrap). They went from ~800USD/ton over the summer to as low as ~80USD/ton as of late. Supply and demand...

Your changelog for the next release looks really good Ryan.

I am back in England for Christmas in a few days, and I have a Dad that is really looking forward to having his computer re-installed. Your going to make his day!

Many thanks for your work Ryan. :)
