Actually I can't give public access to dir. I have very little server controls. The server was donated and paid for untill 2010 August.
I did update this and upload it. I just forgot to update the first post after I ran my test.
As for there being more downloads in there I kinda doubt it because almost all of my addons where taken down. There is only like 2 dozen in there.

Raise your hand if you have ever used an application that has used the vcomp library.Sereby wrote:kel: why did you revrtet vcomp90.dll from v9.0.30729.177 to v9.0.21022.8?
in last addon it was still present.
*chirping crickets*
I'd be surprised if you find even one consumer app that uses OpenMP. It's a library that I'd expect to see in scientific or cluster computing.
Anyway, I suspect that the most likely reason vcomp was reverted was because Kel based the sxs assemblies in his latest release on my rtl pack. As for why my rtl pack contains the RTM vcomp instead of a newer version, it's because that's the version that Microsoft has included in their vcredist package, and the vc8/9 sxs assemblies in my pack were extracted from their respective vcredist packages (instead of from the devel packages in the same VS hotfix). Microsoft uses the latest build of all the libraries in vcredist for VC9, with the exception of vcomp. I don't know why they do this, but I have guesses (perhaps because the only changes to vcomp between RTM and now has been version/compiler bumps). In contrast, VC8's vcomp libraries are updated in the vcredist package, probably because there have been notable changes. The cat file difference is probably related: my guess is that the people who packaged the devel runtimes are not the same as the people who packaged the vcredist runtimes, and that may result in the .cat discrepancy as well as the vcomp decision (maybe they included the debug libraries? I dunno; I haven't looked into it, nor do I really care). If you really care about this, you could write to Microsoft and ask why they only use RTM vcomp in their VC9 redist package, but I suspect that you probably don't since nobody ever uses OMP anyway.
Hello!
I'm sorry, I don't have time and patience read all 560 replies in this topic. Can someone please explain and if possible add such explanation to the original topic - what do we do with this .rar file?
I have previous versions of this addon and all of them where .cab file with no extra .ini or such. These no needed any extraction, loaded in RVMIntegrator and you are good to go.
Thank you.

Thank you Kelsenellenelvian. I have integrated silent installers with Vista Update Toolkit and your Vista uberpack and cpl pack integrate nicely and add much needed functionality.
Would it be possible to add the runtimes to their respective folders in Vista by mounting the Wim or is there more to it than that.
I will take a look at roguespears site also.

Is it really that difficult to do a simple web search for c runtime dlls? You can also take a look at the breakdown in this post.geoslake wrote:(as I don't know which dll's those vc++ - I was refering to - consist of)

I did search (before posting) on the vc++ 2008 download page, but it didn't show which dll were inside.code65536 wrote:Is it really that difficult to do a simple web search for c runtime dlls? Moreover, do you really think i wanna list them all, and compare to the dll's included in the addon ?
Why not just stating in the first post something like "when integrating this, you won't need to install : vc++ 2008, 2005 sp1 etc" ?
And your answers still don't help me sorry, all this is extremely confusing to me, but I guess the answer is "yes, they are both included" (?).
Thanks
So it never occurred to you to cast a slightly wider net to determine what files are inside? (or more importantly, to find out what exactly the redistributable that you are asking for is supposed to be, because if you understood that, then you'd also understand that the actual file list is really not that important)geoslake wrote:I did search (before posting) on the vc++ 2008 download page, but it didn't show which dll were inside.
That is the sort of attitude that will get people flamed on Usenet, in mailing lists, in forums, etc. Would the first post of this thread be better off with a friendly executive summary of what is included? Yes, definitely. Does your asking of a question that could have been answered (or at least mostly answered) by just a few minutes of Googling represent a breach of etiquette? Yes. More importantly, note that the first of these two observations does not invalidate the latter.geoslake wrote:Moreover, do you really think i wanna [...]
This would not have drawn ire: "It appears that this addon contains the runtimes of the VC8/9 redist packages, but I just want to confirm that both packages are fully included since the first post does not do a very good job of indicating this."
And chances are, you are now thinking, "But wouldn't it have been easier for you to just say 'yes' instead of being all snarky and abrasive about it?" Yes, it probably would have been in the short term. And that's what I used to do, years ago, in various newsgroups, mailing lists, and other forums. But I found that providing such answers only invited others to abdicate their obligations and ask similar questions.

Well I must be in my "wrong" mind then. Since Kelsenellenelvian makes an excellent pack, it would seem that many people use his pack. I myself am included.

No, not really; these .ocx ActiveX controls are all but extinct (they were never really widely used back in the day, and now that they're a decade old, they are even less widely used); you'll be hard-pressed to find anything that still loads them. There is a reason I don't bother to include them in my runtimes pack.newsposter wrote:critical system files
