Em...could someone tell me WHERE EXACTLY are the driverpacks for Vista. I cant find any on driverpacks.net. Only some kind of HWID tool that i can live without, really. Is it so that there are no real driverpacks for Vista yet (i.e. Graphics, LAN etc) or am i just stupid enough not to spot them?

Most important question is why and everything begins of your choice
Create this folder & copy IE8 distributive into it:M_P_E wrote:Could you explain it please in a small step by step tutorial? Where to put this cmd? And propably the commands used in this cmd?

Extrect from NDP35SP1-KB958484-x86.exe the NDP35SP1-KB958484.msp file.
integrate it in the original msi file with command: "msiexec /p NDP35SP1-KB958484.msp /a C:\DNF3.5-SP1-x86\vs_setup.msi SHORTFILENAMES=TRUE /qb /l* install.log"
Now your vs_setup.msi is fully updated with the NDP35SP1-KB958484 hotfix. Now you only have to install one file instead of two.
PS: in your post above, you mention:Are these still neccesary? Do they also have to be integrated in the vista source? Because they are not in the NetFramework-v3.5-SP1_x86_904.7z package...Code: Select all
The 3 cab files that you need extra are: Windows6.0-KB949248-v6001-x86.cab Windows6.0-KB949249-v6001-x86.cab Windows6.0-KB967190-x86.cab
Seems they are onely needed for the x64. that is why it is larger...

How does the top link's method differ from Vista-Tool's? FYI, I tried slipstreaming IE8 in by itself using Vista-Tool and it worked fine. It's after adding the update pack that it goes into the endless restarting loop. Either one works fine alone but when combined is when it messes up. I'm not sure which update causes it, but something is.muiz wrote:Slipstream ie8 : http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2008/0 ... g-ie8.aspx

Try removing the old IE7 updates as this can sometimes lead to all kind of problems if slipped after ie8 integration.chaoticyeshua wrote:It's after adding the update pack that it goes into the endless restarting loop. This happens because when you slip the IE8 and then the IE7 updates vista automatically uninstalls the IE7 updates during windows setup, then tries to re-install them. But because IE8 is installed it cant re-install the IE7 updates so loops untill it installs.
The same thing happens if you try to install Media Centre updates on a non Ehome system, And the same again for Ultimate extras on non Ultimate systems.
By doing this you can also save space and size of overall image.
If half the number of these updates are superseeding others, could you please tell us here which ones to delete. I still get Windows6.0-KB963027-x64 after installing all updates in the packs available here ?? I downloaded 963027 manually because it is not in the pack, and slipped with the tool, but no result still Windows6.0-KB963027-x64 at WU after installing on a live machine an in VMWare.Fragbert wrote:Dont forget half those updates superceed existing patches so when you add one, be sure to check the MS KB to see what patch should be removed from the packPliek wrote:Muiz ....I send you all the new patches from April x86 and x64.

The other two are office, my bad, not applying here.
It also seems that:
KB963027 - Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer ( supersedes KB961620 )
Maybe someone could confirm this, i didn't find anything on MS KB.
If true, thanks Saladin for this explanation
(my problem is solved anyway).

I have a small request for Vista-tool 2.0. Could you add a command
"%ERRORLEVEL%" and if this returns anything but 0, then there should be an error box and the image is unmounted and disposed as this is the reason that some installations are being corrupted. (Some updates are for different locales ie the Natural Languages Update.)
I have found by running these packs using waik that one or two updates dont import and fail thus corrupting the install. But then again the updates that fail dont fail on all SKU's or locales.

Here's the entire Windows Update list after only integrating IE8. This list includes the recommended updates also. I find it a little odd that IE7 updates are being found, and not even the IE8 update that is normally found in WU after installing it via setupcomplete.cmd. IE8 seems to work fine after integrating it though, so I'm not sure what the deal is.Pliek wrote:Onely intergrate IE8, and see whats come's up in WU.Pasha_ZZZ wrote:Are there list of updates from this pack, which we should remove, if integrating IE8?electrogen wrote:Try removing the old IE7 updates as this can sometimes lead to all kind of problems if slipped after ie8 integration.

Most probbly know of this is only a problem if the latest Waik is already installed..Pasha_ZZZ wrote:Problem & solution! When I opened .EXE in HEX-editor, I saw string "C:\Windows\system32\drivers\wimfltr.sys" (in unicode), but my Windows installed in other directory (C:\WIN_XP). More people have this?
P.S.: Programs must use %WINDIR% instead of C:\WINDOWS
You can do the the same from installing the "wimfltr.inf" from an earlier version of the waik so long as "wimfltr.sys" is in the same directory.
Cheers

Okay, I've got a question. (Please don't flame me!) I have a Vista Home Premium SP1 DVD. In order to update it to SP2, do I need the Post-SP1 update pack as well? I know that the XP Update Packs don't require patches from post-SP1 to be integrated prior to SP2 integration, but is it the same with Vista? Thanks!
EDIT: Can you also add the answer to this question to the first post so that everybody knows? It would be appreciated! Thanks!
