A Note About The Next Few Update Packs
A Note About The Next Few Update Packs
Hey everybody, I know everybody's waiting for the next release of the pack, so I figured I should let you know what the delay is for getting it out.
I'm currently entering the final month and a half of my research for my Masters degree and I start a new job 4 weeks from yesterday. Needless to say, life's extremely busy at the moment and will remain so for the next 4-6 weeks.
I'm going to try to get 2.1.11 out the door in the next day or two, but that will probably be the last release until late July/early August (I'll probably just skip the July release and come back with an August release).
Anyway, hopefully that answers the questions and tells you guys what to expect in the near future.

People have made upgrade addons in the past when packs were delayed.ricktendo64 wrote:Maybe booogy or Xable can temporarily take over for you, your next couple packs

I agree with mr_smartepants. I see all of us as being very fortunate for your dedication to keeping us updated monthly, when quite frankly, I think most of us in your situation would probably have switched to quarterly updates a long time ago...!
Thank you very much for all the time you've dedicated to these updates; I sincerely wish you the very best in your new job, and a big CONGRATS on your Master's Degree...!
It is a very busy world out there, and quite frankly, I think at some point you will either need to stop supporting this site, or delegate it to others, out of necessity. So until then, each new update you do come up with, is a pleasant, unexpected, and much appreciated gift. Thanks again...!

Best of luck with the degree and the new job Ryan
I know what starting a new job can do to projects, as I started work 4 months ago and the things I've been doing have been slowed down a fair bit.
Hopefully you can get 2.1.11 released quickly (as I'm in DESPERATE need of a rebuild lol). Honestly, just skip a month and come back in August, I'm pretty sure the rest of the community wouldn't mind.
Hope everything goes well for you buddy

OK, I'm locking this thread as it's going off topic.

FYI, things got pushed back a month, so the delay will be continuing indefinitely.

Good news everybody. I passed the oral defense of my thesis today. I need to make some revisions to my thesis before submitting the final copy of it, but I'm very close to being done with my masters degree once and for all.
As a note, things aren't going to go completely back to the way they were before I went on my hiatus once I'm done, but I'll save that for a later time

Masters degree is completely finished. Yay me.
My wife and I are in the process of moving apartments, and the new place isn't going to have internet until Thursday, so I'll be relying on local wifi for a few days. It goes without saying that my participation will be spotty.
I'm talking with code65536 about releasing a full Update Pack, however, he's busy with real life too. Do not bother him about doing it. If he does, he does, but the last thing anybody needs is random people pestering them to do more than they volunteered for.

Since code65536 completely disappeared, I've begun the long process of updating a 4 month old update pack. It's going to take time to get it back into the shape it needs to be in after all this neglect, but at least I'm working on it.

OK, I know everybody's been waiting in eager anticipation, so I'm sorry for not having posted an update recently. Unfortunately, real life's been keeping me very busy lately (as in, it's nearly 1AM and I just got home from work a bit over an hour ago), so I haven't had a whole lot of free time to do anything lately.
Yes, I'm still working on getting a new pack out. Yes, once I get this out I think things will go back to normal schedule-wise since maintaining a newer base should be easier than trying to update something which is 5 months old at this point.
So, patience everyone. It'll be ready when it's ready

It's all good Ryan.
We understand people have real lives too. The new integrator has been taking longer than expected as well... so it was good for me to have a little extra time to work out a few bugs. As of now the latest Beta is very stable. Aside from me needing to fix one small bug with one of the new features and tweaking the new "Optimize system Files" option a bit. I think I should have a fully ready v1.5 very soon. I plan on releasing it along side the new UpdatePack.
BTW the latest Integrator Beta will check for previous 2.1.x updatepacks and not allow people to integrate 2.2.x UpdatePacks over top of it as you requested.
