Hoy007, Stormit has mirrors for several files offered on this site, including this update pack (just scroll to the bottom of his Google Drive page for this one).

[Ninja'd by shhnedo] Don't integrate this update pack as a service pack in nLite; integrate it under "Hotfixes, Addon-ons and Update Packs".

I plan to update a copy of windows XP starter edition TRK. i founded SP3, ie8, wmp11, directx and downloaded the posready 2009 updates from windows catalgog. Many updates post sp3 are missing. I wonder if someone has them uploaded and if could share it . I tryed XPSP3_QFE_UpdatePack for Windows XP Post-SP3 20180109 and work fantastic but i want to build one by myself in turkish.

:!:
I founded a mirror here, thanks guys. I plan to make a true addon similar to XPSP3_QFE_UpdatePack for Windows XP but in turkish, included IE, wmp11 and directx . All with dxupac.

I intend to build a final XPSP3_QFE_UpdatePack for Windows XP Post-SP3 using the following updates, and would like some feedback including suggestions for other updates I have not considered. I do wonder if there is any point in retaining the ActiveX version of the Adobe Flash Player as surfing the internet with IE8 is almost impossible, and I doubt if anyone still uses it for watching videos. Your opinions please.

KB4500331 A remote code execution fix for Remote Desktop Services (critical)
KB952013 Smart Card Service
KB970158 Microsoft Kernel-Mode Driver Framework Feature Pack 1.9
KB971286 WinUSB 2.0 driver

I require KB971286 and KB970158 to access the user files in my Windows phone from Windows Explorer, and I normally have to integrate them separately.

To grace the final release I believe it would be a great idea to bundle a currently maintained 3rd party web browser as complimentary.
Something chromium based would both satisfy most meltdown and spectre virus concerns as windows 10 has decided to include chromium core web browsing as the next generation Edge browser.
Maybe even someone could come up with a unofficial windows xp and xp x64 Edge browser?

I think that whatever complementary web browser you choose to integrate with the update pack it would not satisfy most users who all have their own favourite browser for XP. Mine is Mypal. I think that a separate addon for a browser would be a better idea. As for a browser being able to mitigate the spectre and meltdown vulnerabilities, this is the first that I have heard of it.

Hi guys,

I thought that you may be interested to know that I have started work on my revision of the XPSP3_QFE_UpdatePack for Windows XP Post-SP3, and have finished the entries for the Smart Card driver. Does anyone have a suggestion for a post SP3 security update for XP not included in user_hidden's 20180109 build? All I can think of is the following:

KB2659262 - the last update for GDI+
KB4500331 - remote code execution fix for Remote Desktop Services
KB4012598 - remote code execution fix for SMB omitted from the 20180109 build

I posted links to my final updated version of the XPSP3 QFE UpdatePack for Windows XP, but realized that there is a problem with including the installation of a service in an update pack which I am still working on. You can read about the issues I am facing herehttp://ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f ... 424e77be2a

[Release] XPSP3_QFE_UpdatePack_20201029.7z

Post by Zephyr » Sun Oct 18, 2020 5:40 am

I am offering my updated build of the XPSP3_QFE_UpdatePack for Windows XP Post-SP3 with one extra security update and some extra features not included in user_hidden's 20180109 build.

XPSP3_QFE_UpdatePack_20201029.7z

MD5: 32C34210A942BC7ABED13E052405ABFB
SHA1: 5E8D95E1D32AA1517B5D9E50E9540CDC619ADC31
Size: 54.6MB
Date: 29/10/2020

What is included:

KB931125 - Root Certificate Update (40,0,2195,0)
KB952013 - ICCD Smart Card Driver
KB970158 - Microsoft Kernel-Mode Driver Framework v1.9
KB970159 - Microsoft User-Mode Driver Framework v1.9
KB971286 - WinUSB 2.0 driver
KB2728973 - Revoked Root Certificates (5,0,2195,0)
KB4500331 - A remote code execution fix for Remote Desktop Services (critical)

I have pre-installed the drivers required for Windows phones so that all that is required to access user folders in Explorer is to connect the phone to your computer and point the Found New Hardware wizard to the INF file winusbcompat.inf and the mobile's hardware ID will be detected and written to HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\DeviceClasses. This only has to be done once. The INF and CAT file can be found here. WinUSB includes a kernel mode and a user mode driver, so I have included the Microsoft Kernel-Mode Driver Framework, and the Microsoft User-Mode Driver Framework, with the latter being utilized.

Once installation with winusbcompat.inf is complete Windows will install usbscan.sys and start the Scanner and Camera Wizard.

The ICCD Smart Card Driver is probably superfluous, because Windows XP ships with a ICCD smart card driver usbiccd.sys. Neither driver is installed untill a smart card device is connected to your PC.

The ActiveX version of Flash has been removed from this update pack, because no-one watches videos in IE8, Flash is coming to end of support in 31/12/2020, and Microsoft will remove it from all their browsers at this time.

I welcome suggestions for other features to be included in the update pack such as Windows Search or the XPS Printer Driver, neither of which seems essential to me.

You can get the root certificates with the tool made by Heinoganda. he explain how to made it manually too.

others components only receive updates unofficially or in the form of comunity repacks.

[Release] XPSP3_QFE_UpdatePack_20201029.7z

Post by Zephyr » Thu Oct 29, 2020 9:13 am

I discovered errors in my 20201018 build so I have changed the download link to this:

XPSP3_QFE_UpdatePack_20201029.7z

MD5: 84290FDEC48490C8FA3DB6DDEF894255
SHA1: C8DE249D4E1FA07D5A3AA0D030468EE91BB2BA86
Date: 29/10/2020
Size: 54.6 MB

During an unattended install the installation stopped with a message box headed "Advanced INF Install" and the message "You must restart your computer before the new settings will take effect". Also, a mistake in WUDF.inf meant that the User Mode Driver Framework service was not properly installed. I extracted the files from the 20180109 build, revised WUDF.inf and made a new 7z archive with the build number 20201029.

Where is 20201018 build? I was remove flash hog crap and update rootsupd.exe using latest 7zip file manager (drag-drop all files (-1) sst files at once on the opened rootsupd.exe). Why you use rar sfx these days? It's also nice the direct registration to capicom.dll you made. Where you find spmsgxp.dll? What its use for?

[Release]XPSP3_QFE_UpdatePack_20201105_Home

Post by Zephyr » Thu Nov 05, 2020 4:52 pm

I have built an Home only version of the fully updated XPSP3 QFE UpdatePack for Windows XP Post SP3 which I am offering in addition to the 20201029 build. It includes minor changes to remove Pro features which means that it would only be of interest to perfectionists. I have removed the redundant security catalogue KB961742-v3.cat and the entries in the Update section of the registry for KB961742-v3 and rspndr.adm. I have tidied up entries.ini and removed the Home and Pro folders in the archive. I have tested it with qfecheck and SFC and everything seems to be in order.

The 20201018 build was deleted from my file sharing server when I discovered the error nine days later. I am glad you appreciate the elimination of flash from the update pack. I tried building rootsupd.exe with the 7-zip SFX Maker but I could not run the INF file from inside the archive, so I went back to the RAR SFX method. Later I realized that I could have just added new .sst files to user_hidden's rootsupd.exe using the 7-zip file manager. The only advantage to the 7-zip SFX is a considerably smaller size as far as I can see. spmsgxp.dll is included with the Kernel-Mode Driver Framework Feature Pack 1.9. I logged the registry changes with Regshot2 and it included this line in the [wdf01009_Registry] section of KMDF.inf

Code: Select all

HKLM,"%SERVICES%\Eventlog\System\Wdf01009","EventMessageFile",0x20000,"%SystemRoot%\System32\spmsgXP_2k3.dll"

I have no idea what it is for. I am glad you raised the subject of spmsgxp.dll because I see that I have made a mistake in entries.ini and d1,spmsgXP_2k3.dll should be d1,spmsgXP.dll which is what the file name is expanded to during installation.

I discovered that spmsgXP_2k3.dll is really the same module as spmsg.dll except that it was released two years earlier, and has a different version number. I have removed spmsgXP_2k3.dll and amended entries.ini and KMDF.inf accordingly.

@Zephir I integrated both addons created by you and the installation is asking for a product key, the cd is my old oem hp cd, read that happens for the posready hotfixes modifying the regedit im not sure. This happened to you? anything can be done?

The files that distinguish OEM disks from Retail disks are unattended.sif, or winnt.sif (containing the generic OEM product key), dpcdll.dll, pidgeon.dll, setupp.ini (With Product ID ending in "OEM"), oembios.bin, oembios.dat, oembios.sig, and oembios.cat. None of these files are replaced by my update of the POSReady2009 addon or by my update to the XPSP3 update pack.

According to harkaz XP product key activation either by telephone or over the internet does not work if the POSReady2009 registry hack is applied. I suppose that your OEM installer attempts to activate XP over the internet at the OOBE stage at the end of the installation after the registry hack has been applied by a POSReady 2009 addon. There is no point in including a POSReady 2009 addon since I released my final revision of the XPSP3 QFE POSReady Addon. If you use Automatic Updates to update XP after the final POSReady 2009 updates have been applied all that will happen is your WinSxS folder will get filled up with obsolete versions of Gdiplus.dll which you will never need. If you absolutely must have the POSReady 2009 registry hack it could be applied at the first user start using the RunOnce registry key. The procedure to do this is rather complicated. Tell me if you are interested in doing this.
